Energy Systems
The secure and steady access to sufficient power supply is the backbone for dynamic economic and social development. It is our principal goal to support socially equitable solutions of sustainable energy access at competetive prices in challenging environments and integrate active cross-scale business cases with self-sufficiency approaches.
Main activities in the field are:
- Holistic system designs for power generation, storage and consumption
- Network and supply chain security and resilience
- Smart metering and documentation
- Policy review and advisory

Energy Infrastructure
At heart of all modern settlements is the energy infrastructure. Different sources and carriers of energy have to be organized and combined to provide a sufficient and stable supply of energy under different conditions and for various purposes. With the increasing electrification in basic infrastructures such as water supply and transport, resilient networks and steady availability of energy become prerequisites.

Decentralization
At the same time decentral concepts for generation and distribution of energy have to be integrated in urban structures to form a funcitonal and holistic network as a whole. Therefore, the exchange of experts in the different application fields and research for system-oriented and single-unit-oriented approaches will play an important role.
